Let's Make This Easy.

If you've never trained before, you probably have questions. That's completely normal.

01

I've never done martial arts. Can I still join?

Absolutely. Most people have to start somewhere. You don't need experience, athletic ability or prior martial arts knowledge to take your first class.

02

What if I'm out of shape?

That's one of the reasons to train. You don't have to get in shape before starting martial arts. Your fitness can improve as you train.

03

Do I have to compete?

Nope. Competition is available for people who want that challenge, but it is never required. You can train for fitness, confidence, self-defense or simply because you enjoy it.

04

Is martial arts dangerous?

Like any physical activity, martial arts carries some risk. We focus on controlled training, good technique, appropriate intensity and responsible training partners.

05

Do I need to buy a gi?

Not for your first class. Come in comfortable athletic clothing and we'll help you figure out what you need as you continue training.

06

Can I try both Jiu-Jitsu and striking?

Yes. Campeao offers Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and striking, including Dutch-style striking and striking fundamentals for MMA.

07

What should I bring to my first class?

Comfortable athletic clothes, water and a willingness to learn. Come a few minutes early so we can show you around and get you settled in.

08

Do I have to be strong or athletic?

No. Strength and fitness can help, but martial arts are about learning technique, timing, leverage, movement and decision making.

09

Can kids train at Campeao?

Yes. Our kids program is designed to teach martial arts while developing discipline, confidence, respect, fitness and teamwork in a structured environment.

10

Can parents and kids train at the same gym?

Absolutely. One of the things we love about Campeao is having families who are all part of the same martial arts community.

11

What if I'm nervous about my first class?

That's normal. You won't be thrown into a fight the second you walk through the door. We'll show you around, explain what we're doing and help you get comfortable.

12

What if I don't know anyone?

Most people didn't know anyone when they started. Training is one of the best ways to meet people because you're working toward the same goal together.

13

How often should I train?

The best schedule is one you can consistently maintain. For most beginners, two or three classes per week is a great place to start.

14

How long does it take to get good?

There isn't a shortcut. Your progress depends on consistency, effort, coaching and how often you train. The good news is that you'll start learning from your very first class.

15

What age can someone start?

We have programs designed for different ages and experience levels. Contact us and we'll help you find the appropriate program.

16

What happens after my 2-week trial?

Your 2-week trial gives you time to experience training, meet the coaches and see whether Campeao is a good fit for you. If you decide you'd like to continue training, we'll explain your membership options at the end of your trial.

03

An Open Mind

You don't need to know anything. Just be willing to listen, learn and give it a try.

You Don't Have To Be "That Guy."

Martial arts has a reputation for being intimidating. It doesn't have to be.

Myth

"Everyone Will Be Better Than Me."

At first, some people will be better than you. That's how learning works. Your job isn't to be the best person in the room. Your job is to improve.

Myth

"I'll Get Beat Up Every Class."

Training partners aren't there to hurt you. You'll learn how to train with different people and different levels of intensity.

Myth

"I Need To Lose Weight First."

You don't. Start where you are and let training become part of the process.

Myth

"I Have To Become A Fighter."

Not at all. Martial arts can be competition, fitness, self-defense, confidence, stress relief or simply something you enjoy doing.

That's What We're Here For.
